It was way back in 2003 that we spent time in San Vito Lo Capo, and it was there that I had food poisioning and was treated at a very small medical centre - they did a great job - and we still fondly remember of time because of the day trip to the Zingaro Reserve.
The town is now the draw, but the beach is massive, the clean sand and water a joy to experience. The beach is more known by local vcacationers than international tourists. San Vito La Capo is also know as a destination for rock climbing.
We went to the docks and arranged for a guide to take us out in his boat along the coast. The Zingaro Nature Reserve was the first such area designated in Sicily. There is no road, no cars, no amenities - just the landscape. There are trails to walk that lead to what are called some of the best beaches on the island. It covers a distance of about 7 km of coastline. Pathways that lead to stunning coves and beaches. There are three hiking paths to consider. There is a south entrance, with a parking lot.
